According to officials, a woman formerly from Glens Falls who served almost 10 years in prison for her part in her child’s 2007 death was arrested again this week for her supposed role in an armed robbery of a convenience store and a purse theft.
Saratoga County sheriff’s officers arrested Alicia C. Lewie, 33, and her boyfriend, Michael T. Garrick, 35, both of Ranger Road, Schuylerville, after they were discovered to be behind the theft last week of a purse from a patron’s shopping cart at the Walmart store in Halfmoon, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Lewie served close to 10 years for a manslaughter conviction that originated from the death of her 7-1/2-month-old son, Colbi Bullock. Lewie’s boyfriend beat the child to death, and Lewie was convicted for neglecting to get help and stop the abuse of her son before he died.
The purse theft occurred on May 27, and sheriff’s investigators could link the two, thanks to surveillance videos from the store.
The investigation led police to discover that the couple was also responsible for an April 26 robbery at Cumberland Farms, during which a masked man pointed what looked to be a handgun at a clerk, stole money and ran.
Garrick was believed to have been the robber, and Lewie is claimed to have aided him. The gun is believed to have been a pellet gun, but police said the investigation was ongoing.
Both face felony charges of robbery and grand larceny. They were arraigned and sent to Saratoga County Jail for lack of bail.
Lewie is on parole for her manslaughter conviction until May 2023. She was released from prison in March 2017.
Sheriff’s investigators Roger Zalucky and George Maxfield handled the cases.
