According to reports by Washington DC police, a man has been arrested and charged with felony murder for the death of a child who was found beaten in a Southeast home.
Police say 28-year-old Brian Jamal Wooden, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder for the death of 1-year-old Carter Sanders.
Police spokeswoman Karimah Bilal reports that Wooden was the boyfriend of Carter’s mother.
According to the police, Carter died after being found with several blunt force injuries on Wednesday at the 4700 block of Benning Road, Southeast.
The young boy was found unconscious and unresponsive at the scene by the police who rushed him to the hospital where he was later declared dead.
The child who was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was found to have died from multiple blunt force injuries through an autopsy.
Wooden was arrested and charged on Sunday, police say.
