Two Arrest Made After Shooting at High School Graduation in Georgia

A woman has been pronounced dead and another injured after a shooting at a high school graduation.

According to a police report, two people have been arrested in connection with the incident, but their names have been withheld due to additional charges pending.

The incident occurred near Mount Zion High School at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center around 8:45 p.m. on Friday.

Police affirm that the two people have been shot and one of them is dead near Mt. Zion High School in Jonesboro, Georgia.

A graduation was being held for the Perry Learning Center when the shooting happened in a nearby overflow parking lot.

That argument led to two women being shot, one severely.

The woman who was killed was shot several times in the chest. The other woman was shot in the leg and was taken to a hospital nearby for treatment of her wounds.

Multiple police department and emergency agencies hurried to the scene on the ground and in the air.

Glenda Norman said that her grandson was at the school when the shooting occurred.

“He went there for something tonight. And I said, ‘Oh my God. I’m going to go down and check on him,’” Norman said.

According to investigators, a third woman, who is 36 weeks pregnant, was thrown to the ground in the disarray from the shooting but is expected to be alright.
