Three individual has been charged regarding a murder that occurred during a party in Greenville.
According to the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office, they were aided by Georgia State Patrol when a shooting occurred in the 3000 block of Georgia Highway 100. Another person was also injured.
Officers were met by a large crowd when they got to the scene. According to the investigation, as the party was ending, a fight started in the parking area next to one of the buildings on the property.
A 25-year-old man was shot and taken to the hospital in a private vehicle. Deputies said he was declared dead at the hospital.
According to witnesses at the scene, they saw a pick-up truck with several men leaving the area. One of the suspects was also firing shots at the crowd from the bed of the truck as it was leaving the scene, the witnesses said.
Authorities located the truck and carried out a traffic stop on Woodbury Highway. Two people were inside the vehicle and deputies said one person was lying down in the truck bed.
The three suspects, 21-year-old Dylontae Arkel Carrikter, 23-year-old Johnterrius McGill, and 22-year-old Lance Lavell Hall were arrested.
Around 7 p.m., authorities said they got a call concerning another person who was at an Atlanta hospital after being shot in the face at the same scene. Deputies said the victim is expected to be discharged from the hospital.
The suspects are being charged with felony murder. Deputies also recuperated several vehicles from the scene that had been struck by gunfire. Evidence discovered at the scene shows that possibly other vehicles that left the scene were hit too.
“Our personnel will not stop investigating this incident until we have covered all that we can. Although we have made a swift arrest related to this case investigation we know that additional witnesses are out there. This investigation is not over and we want those witnesses to come forward.” Sheriff Chuck Smith said in a news release.
