Three suspects have been arrested and another is at-large after a shooting and robbery reported at a Mattoon residence early on Thursday.
According to a news release from Mattoon police, a 16-year-old was part of those arrested and is the person suspected of firing two shots from a gun during the robbery at an apartment in the 400 block of North 21st Street.
The investigation prompted the arrests of the juvenile male alongside Chelsea J. Langenhorst, 21, of Mattoon and Deonte T. Moore, 19, of Charleston, the news release said.
It likewise said an arrest warrant has been issued for an at-large suspect, Jaison C. Peoples, 39, of Mattoon.
The news release said a resident of the apartment told police that three men broke into the residence and demanded money and drugs.
Two shots were fired at a woman who was there but she wasn’t injured, the release said. The male resident was beaten and got bruises and scratches and reported that a gun was held to his head, it said.
The release said Moore, Peoples and the juvenile are suspected of participating in the break-in.
It said Langenhorst is thought to have helped arranged the robbery and ensured the victim was home at the time. Methamphetamine was also discovered in her possession, according to the release.
The release said two guns were discovered during search warrants carried out at three Mattoon residences amid the investigation.
It said anyone with information on Peoples’ whereabouts can contact Mattoon police at 217-235-5451, Coles County Crime Stoppers at 888-345-8488 or either organization on its Facebook page.
