Robbery and Shooting at a Tulsa Car Wash Leads to Two Arrests

According to Tulsa police, two suspects are in jail after an armed robbery and shooting overnight on Sunday.

Officers were flagged down near East 21st Street and South Garrett Road on reports that two Black males were attempting to rob people leaving the Plaza Santa Cecilia, police said.

Officers saw a vehicle without lights leaving the area at a high rate of speed and a short pursuit began.

Amid the pursuit, the vehicle was halted by a dead end street near East 24th Street and South 111th East Ave. The suspects then ran on foot from the vehicle.

Police were then alerted that a 28-year-old woman had been shot in the leg during a robbery at the car wash near the Plaza Santa Cecilia.

She was then taken to a hospital by EMSA where she was treated and discharged.

Officers at that point set up a perimeter around the area to search for the suspects.

Police found the suspect, Jokari Johnson, 18, hiding in a trash can near East 25th Street and South Garnett Road. The other suspect, Nicholas Baptist, 18, was found hiding on the back porch of a house near East 25th Street and South 111th East Ave.

The two suspects were treated at a hospital for dog bites before being taken into custody.

Police said a gun was found while searching for the suspects that they believed was the weapon used in the shooting.
