According to police department website, the North Coventry police has arrested a 26-year-old man from Pottstown was arrested on Thursday, May 17, 2018, on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, and careless driving, following his alleged involvement in a one-vehicle crash that happened at 8:45 p.m. that night.
Samuel Garner was arrested and taken into custody after he failed a field sobriety test, the department said. No injuries were reported at the time of the crash, it also added.
Police said they responded to the report of an accident in the 100 block of Unionville Road, and when they arrived, they saw a silver-colored Toyota Corolla disabled in an embankment off the roadway. Their ensuing investigation determined Garner was traveling north on Unionville when he lost control of the vehicle and struck an adjacent fence line.
The car at that point side-swiped a tree, they said, and came to a halt in the embankment. It “sustained severe damage to the front and left side,” officers said.
Garner later consented to submit to a blood draw for laboratory analysis, they added.
