The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has reported that one of their employees has been arrested on charges of driving under the influence.
Mark McDonald, a forensic unit manager with the sheriff’s office, was arrested just before midnight on Saturday after a car crash along Lantana Road west of Interstate 95.
According to the sheriff’s report, a lady involved in the crash had a bloody nose.
McDonald was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail early on Sunday and placed on supervised release that afternoon.
He has worked for the Palm Beach Sherriff’s Office since December 1987 and is currently on paid administrative leave.
The deputies said that McDonald was behind the wheels of his truck and seemed confused. His “eyes were glassy, one of his pupils appeared larger than the other and he had difficulty standing on his own,” according to the report.
As McDonald came out of his truck, a deputy saw a burnt glass crack pipe in the car, according to the report. A search of McDonald’s body found little pieces of crack cocaine, according to deputies.
Along with a DUI, McDonald was charged with possession of paraphernalia and possession of crack cocaine, according to the report.
