Oklahoma City Man Facing Murder Complaint After Man’s Death

An Oklahoma City man is currently facing a first-degree murder complaint after the weekend death of another man.

According to Oklahoma City police Sgt. Gary Knight on Monday, 64-year-old Rufus E. Townsend was arrested on Saturday after the death of Joel Stephen White.

Townsend, who is also known as Rufus Cudjo, was being held without bond on Monday in the Oklahoma County Jail. Records do not show whether Townsend has an attorney who could stand for him.

According to Knight, officers were dispatched to an apartment on the city’s northwest side after reports of a death there. Knight says police discovered 56-year-old White’s body with injuries consistent with a homicide. Knight says state medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

According to Knight, Townsend was at the scene when officers arrived and were taken into custody.
