A man from Muncie seen by a police officer “staggering and stumbling” down a Hartford City Street was arrested on drug-related charges.
Authorities claim Brent Richard Doublin, 28, threw a plastic bag containing heroin as a Hartford City police officer moved toward him in the 400 block of North High Street on June 27.
In an affidavit, the officer revealed that the Muncie man at first struggled with authorities attempting to take him into custody.
Afterward, he allegedly acknowledged he had recently taken meth, and confessed that he had bought the heroin he had thrown, in Muncie for $20.
Doublin who was charged with possession of a narcotic drug, resisting law enforcement and public intoxication, this week got an August 29 trial date in Blackford Superior Court.
He was already set to stand trial on September 14 in Delaware Circuit Court 4, where he was charged in January with unlawful possession of a legend drug.
He has been convicted of battery, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
