A man from Minnetonka was sentenced on Thursday to 30 days in jail for each charge on counts of assault and of groping a woman in an Avon bar in June.
Corey James Heinen, 40, was convicted on two of the original four charges which is one for assault in the second with a dangerous weapon and one for criminal sexual conduct in the fifth degree. The other two charges were dismissed.
The crimes occurred at Lion’s Den Bar June 17. Heinen grabbed a woman without her consent.
When the woman requested that someone help stop Heinen’s assault, a man stepped in to intervene. Heinen hit him over the head with a beer bottle, according to court records.
Heinen was sentenced to 30 days for each charge to be served simultaneously in Stearns County Jail. He gets three days credit for time already served.
