Man Charged with Aggravated Murder in Relation with Fatal Pickerington Fire

Aggravated murder charges have been filed by the Fairfield County Prosecuting Attorney in the death of a Pickerington man who died in a house fire a month ago.

Raeqwan Hancock, 21, has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder in the death of 60-year-old John Peter Letourneau.

According to Fairfield County Prosecuting Attorney Kyle Witt, evidence from the case claims Hancock deliberately lit Letourneau’s home on fire on April 8, after a burglary, with the awareness that the man was still inside.

Hancock is likewise suspected of burglarizing a home about a mile-and-a-half away from Letourneau’s two days earlier.

Hancock has been in custody since April 15. He is charged with aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and aggravated arson in connection with the April 8 incident.

He’s been charged with burglary in connection with the April 6 incident.

Witt says Hancock is meant to appear in the Fairfield County Common Pleas Court in few days’ time.

He also says he appreciates the efforts and investigation from multiple agencies in this case, including Fairfield County, Pickerington, Reynoldsburg and Violet Township.
