A Leonardtown man, Gary Flint Jr., 37, has been arrested by Maryland State Police after allegedly stabbing his roommate in St. Mary’s County
Flint Jr., is accused of stabbing his 41-year-old female roommate after an argument inside a residence on the 21700 block of Potomac View Drive in Leonardtown.
Flint was arrested at around 6:10 a.m. on Monday morning after barricading himself in the home for over five hours. He is being charged with first-and second-degree attempted murder and first-and second-degree assault.
Not long after 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, troopers from the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack got a call concerning an assault in progress at a home on the 21700 piece of Potomac View Drive. A witness told police that the victim was being assaulted by a man who lived in the residence.
While making a trip to the residence, a trooper found the victim, who had all the earmarks of being injured. The victim told the trooper that she had returned home before at night and her roommate who was later identified as Flint came towards her. She said that an argument soon started and Flint assaulted her and after that stabbed her with a sharp object numerous times. The victim was taken to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of her wounds.
The victim told investigators that she and someone else in the house escaped, however, that Flint stayed in the house. A perimeter was soon put in place around the home as Flint refused to come out even with the multiple attempts being made to reach to him.
At around 4:45 a.m., members from the Maryland State Police Special Tactical Assault Team Element entered the home and found Flint in a bedroom upstairs. He was arrested at the scene and taken to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for medicinal treatment.
The investigation is ongoing.
