According to officials with the Illinois State police report, a man from Janesville has been arrested in Illinois in association with criminal damage and battery of a child on I-74.
A statement about the arrest was released by the ISP, saying Kevin L. Casey, 53, was arrested after an investigation into vehicle damage. The charges are aggravated battery to a child, aggravated battery on a public way and criminal damage to property.
According to the police report, the charges are related to multiple car windows being shot out, which injured a toddler and a woman from Illinois.
The criminal damage occurred on I-74 in Vermilion and Champaign counties in Illinois, but that it could have happened in multiple states, officials with the Illinois State Police said.
Casey was taken into custody on Friday.
Illinois State police are scheduled to hold a press conference on Monday 10 a.m. in Pestorum.
