Hockessin Dance Teacher Pleads Guilty in Dover Sexual Assault Case

A dance instructor pleaded guilty to second-degree unlawful sexual contact involving a 17-year-old boy in a Dover dance studio locker room.

Alexander Boitsov, 66, of Hockessin, was accused of telling a student at The Dance Conservatory to strip naked under the pretense of giving instruction and then engaging in sexual contact with the victim on June 23, 2017.

After the parents of the boy reported the incident on June 26, the Dover Police Department got an arrest warrant for a single count of second-degree unlawful sexual contact and Boitsov was arrested without incident on June 28 in New York City by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force at the Ellison School of Ballet. He later was extradited to Delaware.

Deputy Attorney General Kathleen Dickerson secured the plea, according to a press release from the state Department of Justice on May 18. Boitsov will be sentenced by a Superior Court judge in October after a presentence investigation. Boitsov, who instructed at various ballet studios in the region, also faces charges in Chester County, Pennsylvania, for sexually assaulting a student there.
