According to a recent police report, a convicted felon who was on parole in a 2013 battery case has been arrested in Las Vegas on manslaughter and prohibited weapon charges in the shooting death of a 2-year-old boy who police say was shot by another child.

Records revealed that Michael Logan was being held on Friday at the Clark County jail awaiting a Monday court appearance at which he is required to have a lawyer appointed to represent him.

He also faces child abuse and parole violation charges.

According to the police, Logan’s arrest originated from the investigation of the fatal shooting before noon on Wednesday at a northeast Las Vegas apartment.

As indicated by authorities, the boy was with four other children, all believed to be younger than 12, in a bedroom when the gun fired. Police say a toy gun also was found in the room.
